Equipment Information
Equipment Requirements:
Girls equipment consists of eye protection (specific goggles), mouth guard and a stick. Goalies wear additional pads and a helmet. The use of goalie chest protectors that meet the NOCSAE performance standard, ND200, is now mandatory in the USA Lacrosse boys’ and girls’ youth rules, the NFHS boys’ and girls’ high school rules, and the NCAA men’s and women’s rules.
Boys lacrosse requires more equipment to ensure a safe experience given the contact allowed in the game. Standard equipment includes: Helmet, Chest pad, arm guards, gloves, and a mouth guard. Cleats are highly recommended. A protective cup is also highly recommended; required for goalies.
Beginning in 2022, boys’ and men's field players must also wear chest protection that meets the ND200 standard. For more info, click here.
Lacrosse gear is specific to the sport. Alternate sport gear (hockey, football) are not allowed as protective gear. Cleats worn for other sports (soccer, football) are fine. No metal spike cleats of any kind are allowed.
